How to create an identity in Woleet.ID Server
Signing electronically requires to declare and prove one's identity. Woleet.ID Server stores the identity of signatories, either being physical or legal persons.
Identity creation is consequently an essential function in Woleet.ID Server. It is accessible to manager and admin profiles. See this article for more details.
Important note: before creating an identity, you need to know if this identity relates to a physical or a legal person. The legal effects and the properties of e-signatures (made by physical persons) and e-seals (made by legal persons) are different. Read How to distinguish e-signatures from e-seals for more details.
Creating a user identity
Go to the user page and select the button "Add user identity".
This opens a card where you can fill-in following information about the signatory:
- Identity: this shall reflect precisely the signatory's identity and shall be verified by the manager (e.g by checking an identity card).
- Authentication profile: creating an identity technically creates a user account that allows to perform signatory's authentication before signing.
A password must be set by the signatory to activate the account.
The phone number is used to send an OTP code by SMS to add a second factor for signatory authentication.
Clicking on the button "Create" in the user card confirms the user creation. It sends a password initialization email to the user, if this option was chosen. Otherwise, the manager shall choose a password and transmit it to the user by his/her own means.
Creating a seal identity
Go to the Seals page and select the button "Add seal identity".
This opens a card where you can fill-in following information about the seal identity:
- Identity: this shall reflect precisely the seal identity and shall be verified by the manager (e.g by checking an official document attesting the existence of the organization).
- Authentication profile: if an email is provided, this creates a user account for the seal identity. This user account can be used to get email notifications about the events relating to the identity and keys (e.g. key expired, key revoked). It can also be used to manually perform seal creation (similarly as with user identities), even if this is not recommended. For this, a password must be set.
We recommend to perform seal creation via API so as to guarantee a reliable execution in the name of the organization identified in the seal.
Clicking on the button "Create" in the card confirms the seal identity creation. It sends a password initialization email to the point of contact, if this option was chosen.
