Balanced Guidance and Independence in Academic Projects

I wanted to get some feedback on the balance between mentorship and solo work throughout academic projects. For example, those who have worked with a Acca Oxford Brookes Mentor may realize the importance of systematic advice, particularly when setting research direction or refining ideas. At the same time, I'm curious how much independence should be kept to ensure originality and personal development. How do you find the right balance between seeking mentorship and maintaining your own academic voice?
